Hi! I’m Leslie Ann Leddy.

I’m a professional music teacher who’s been teaching piano, voice, guitar, and ukulele for over 20 years, from young beginners to collegiate and adults.   I love to teach using a playful, experiential teaching style and positive reinforcement to build a nurturing relationship with my students. I help students have fun and enjoy their lessons, which helps them develop initiative to practice on their own to keep improving their skills!

My teaching relationship with my students is a very special one for both teacher and student. I’ve had the privilege of teaching most of my students for many years, and several for over a decade, becoming an extension of each other’s musical and life journeys.  Some even return from college and continue lessons!

I believe the very first musical experiences with lessons and recitals are some of the most important that students will ever experience, so I’m dedicated to ensuring these are very positive!

I’m a conservatory-level trained pianist, having studied with Mary Anne Knight in the direct lineage of Rosina Lhévinne, who taught composer John Williams and other famous students at the Juilliard School. Winner of the Kawai Southern Keyboards Piano competition 1999, Winner of GMTA State piano competition 2000, recipient of honorable invitation to study at the St. Petersburg Piano Institute from Francis Larimer 1999. I was a recipient of Furman University music merit-based scholarship, and I have attended master classes with P.D.Q. Bach, Garrick Olson, Andrew Cooperstock, and studied at the Brevard Music Center, Brevard NC summers 1998, 1999.

LESSONS

In general, I recommend 30 minute lessons for beginners, progressing to 45, 60, 75, or 90 minutes depending on the age and level of the student as well as the number of instruments being studied.

I have transitioned back to in-person lessons as health, safety, and comfort allow, although remote lessons may still be a convenient option for families that travel or wish to avoid commutes.

We asked our eleven year old daughter to tell us what her favorite things are about her piano and voice teacher. “Leslie Ann is very patient and teaches me in a calm and kind manner, and if something doesn’t make sense, explains it to me in a different way so I can understand.  She always seems happy and enthusiastic and glad to see me. She challenges me to learn harder pieces, but makes it fun and rewarding too.”

He’s come so far and really grown in his love for the piano! He’s proud of his ability, and it’s wonderful to see him going over to the piano nowadays not just to practice but to play his favorite pieces *for fun.* As a quiet kid, he doesn’t connect with everyone, but you have such a warm and gentle manner that he is immediately comfortable. We are so grateful that you are guiding him on this amazing musical journey. We hope music will always be in his heart and his life, thanks to you!

Thank you so much for teaching our son, Lucas, and fostering the interest of music for him. Your smile, your passion, your encouragement and dedication make us feel very warm from the bottom of hearts.  We are so lucky to have you!

– Mandy Liu

Our daughters have been joyfully studying music with Leslie Ann for 5 years. As parents we are delighted to witness their love of learning piano and vocals and give credit to Leslie Ann’s technique in working with each individually. She is kind and loving and has inspired our daughters tremendously!
